This course will assist the team to work within industry guidelines including HTM01-05, the Health and Social Care Act and NICE(CG139) and includes a practical element to engage the whole team.

• Update knowledge of HTM01-05 and current guidelines and requirements

• Review instrument transportation, decontamination, sterilisation and storage

• Understand use of equipment including, maintenance, testing and validation

• Review waste management HTM07-01

• Review the importance of Hand Hygiene

• Understand what an infection is and the routes of transmission

• How to identify healthcare acquired infections

• Review the Implementation of Standard Precautions

• Review cleaning of equipment and the environment

• Review the importance of sharps safety
