Infection, Prevention & Control
This course supports the dental team in working in line with current industry guidance, including HTM 01-05, the Health and Social Care Act, and NICE (CG139). It incorporates a practical element to actively involve the whole team and reinforce key principles
The training meets Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements for
decontamination within the dental treatment environment, including:

Regulation 15: Premises and equipment

Regulation 12: Safe care and treatment
Training objectives:

Update knowledge of HTM 01-05 and current regulations and best practice
-
Understand the importance of sharps safety
-
Review waste management in line with HTM 07-01

Reinforce the importance of effective hand hygiene
-
Understand what infections are and how they are transmitted
-
Identify healthcare-associated infections
-
Review the application of standard infection control precautions
-
Understand cleaning procedures for equipment and the clinical environment
-
Review the safe transportation, decontamination, sterilisation, and storage of instruments
-
Understand the correct use of equipment, including maintenance, testing, and validation
